A note from White Thunder Riders:

For information. What does it take to open and maintain snowmobile trails? Here are the numbers from July 1, 2018 until January 12th.

213 hrs of non-grooming activities (signing, brushing, grading, culvert replacement etc).
530 hrs of grooming (rolling/packing and panning with a drag).

That's over 740 hours of work on the trails directly (and we are only halfway through January). This does not include time in the shop maintaining equipment, working with landowners on trail easements, fundraisers, community events, meetings and other countless time.

Remember, all of this time is put in by a dedicated, passionate group of volunteers. We love what we do but need riders to do their part. Respect the trails and the land they pass through. Join a club. Better yet, become active in a club! Patronize the businesses that support the clubs.

Thanks!
White Thunder Riders

What does “fe” mean?
Why develop an online community calendar for the Gogebic Range?
How do I use the calendar to promote events?

All these questions and more will be answered over beers and free pizza at the Find Your Element Felivelife.org Calendar Party on Wednesday, January 23. The fun starts at 5:30, guests can receive a discounted price on beer when they use the IronwoodGo! app, and some lucky folks will walk away with door prizes!

Computers will also be available to see how easy it is to add events to felivelife.org. Check out everything our area has to offer, and see how we are working together to make sure everyone knows it!

Hygge Hike @ Montreal Recreation Trails

Iron County UW-Extension, Hurley Area Chamber and community volunteers are organizing the Hygge [Hoo-ga] Hike! This is a FREE community snowshoe hike with a goal of bringing awareness to the great snowshoe and ski trails that the City of Montreal has to offer!

The afternoon will include a 1.5 mile casual snowshoe hike through a portion of the Historic Montreal Ski Trails! Participants are asked to park at the Montreal City Hall where they will be shuttled to the trail head. Children will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt! After the snowshoe event, please stop by the City Hall for a community bonfire, soup bar, hot chocolate and apple cider provided by Iron County 4-H. If you don't have any snowshoes, don't worry! The Iron County UW-Extension & MSU Extension's community snowshoes (kid and adult sizes) will be available to use for FREE! Proceeds will benefit the Penokee Rangers, Inc. who care for the trails on a volunteer basis.

Mark your calendars!

If you have any questions, feel free to call Iron County UW-Extension at 715-561-2695 or the Hurley Chamber at 715-561-4334.
