FE University is now accepting registrations for the class titled A Brief History of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.   The class taught by Hurley High School history teacher, Christopher Kelly, will be held for four Wednesdays, November 29th, December 6, 13 & 20 from 4:00pm - 6:00 pm at the Hurley K-12 School.

This class will focus on the U.S. Civil Rights movement from the 1890's through the 1960s.  Particular attention will be paid to major events of the 1950s and 60s including the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington, the Children's March and the Mississippi Burning case.  The course is intended to highlight major areas of interest.

Explore the turbulent period in U.S. history with Chris Kelly, who is in his 31st year of teaching U.S. History in the Hurley School District.  Chris holds a Bachelor's degree in History as well as 35 graduate credits in U.S. History.  He is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honors Society.  Chris also holds a Master's Degree in Educational Administration.

The fee for the class is $30 with a $5 discount if registration is received before November 15th.  Information on scholarships can be found on the registration form which may be downloaded from the website or picked up at the Mercer Library and the Iron County UW Extension office in Hurley.
