Lakes
Start with the biggest of them all. Lake Superior. Easily accessed at Saxon Harbor, Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world, containing fully 10% of all the world's fresh water - as much as the other four great lakes combined. It provides you with a place to cool down in hot summer months. And it is the reason we have such great snowfalls in the winter. You can discover sandy beaches as well as soaring red clay cliffs along the shoreline.
In addition to the big lake, Iron County has 154 uncrowded lakes with public access. Some are ideal for water skiing and all are incredible for fishing or bird watching. Most of the osprey and bald eagles of Iron County stay near these lakes for their own fishing.
