World Flutes, Nature Sounds, and Community Drum Circle Coming to Copper Falls State Park
MELLEN, Wis. — The Friends of Copper Falls State Park invite the public to experience an afternoon of music, storytelling, and community connection when musician Ryan Meisel presents Spiritual Currents: World Flutes & Nature Sounds on Saturday, June 20, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Nature Cabin in Copper Falls State Park. In the event of rain, the program will be held in the Historic Pavilion.
Combining music and storytelling in a relaxed and intimate setting, Ryan Meisel’s Spiritual Currents blends Indigenous world music traditions with his deep passion for nature. Through music, stories, and personal reflections, Meisel invites listeners on a journey that celebrates the interconnectedness of people, cultures, and the natural world.
A multi-instrumentalist and educator, Meisel performs on a remarkable collection of traditional instruments from around the globe, including Native American flutes, saxophones, East Indian Bansuri flutes, Lithuanian Skuduciai and Birbyne, Irish flutes and whistles, Slovakian Fujara, and Andean Pan Pipes. His performances create an immersive soundscape inspired by both the natural environment and diverse cultural traditions.
Following the concert, guests are invited to take part in a community-building drum circle, offering an opportunity for audience members of all ages and musical backgrounds to participate in a shared rhythmic experience.
“This program is more than a concert,” said organizers with the Friends of Copper Falls State Park. “It is an opportunity to slow down, listen deeply, connect with nature, and experience the joy of creating community through music.”
The event is free and open to the public. A Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission pass is required for vehicles entering the park.
Following the program, visitors may purchase “Penokee” Ice Cream Sundaes, with proceeds supporting activities and programs sponsored by the Friends of Copper Falls State Park.
